IPL (intense pulsed light)

indications:

• vascular changes: angioma, hemangioma, telangiectasia, spider neavus

• removal of unwanted hair (hypertrichosis)

• improvement of skin structure and texture

Treatment parameters:

Depending on the settings, and depending on the diagnosis.

Mode of action:

Depending on the setting of different target structures (e.g. hemoglobin, melanin), the energy (the light) is being absorbed. These are being permanently damaged through the thereby induced momentary heating.

Duration of treatment:

For small changes one session is usually sufficient. For deep-reaching and extensive changes more sessions are needed.

Soreness:

Comparable with pinpricks, it is generally well tolerated with no anesthetic. In cases of pain sensitivity and in the treatment of young children it is possible to work with an anesthetic skin cream.
